“But Joseph said to them, “Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones.”
Thus he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.”
— Genesis 50:19-21
In this past month, we have seen evil on full display. We have also seen celebration of the evil that was perpetrated. What is happening before us? Let’s be absolutely clear: what we are seeing is spiritual warfare in its fullness. This is flat out good vs. evil. An individual like Charlie Kirk, as fallible as he was like the rest of us, was not assassinated for his politics, he was assassinated for the message of truth, particularly the gospel of Jesus Christ. Yet out of such evil such as an assassination, we have seen Truth rising, the Gospel shared, and a renewal & revival of hearts given and dedicated to the Lord.
Genesis 50:20 could not be on display any better. God will always take everything and work it for His good and His purposes for those that love Him (Romans 8:28). So as we continue to navigate these last days, what will we continue to stand for? Will we continue to call out evil and share the truth in love to those that are lost? Will we continue to let our yes be yes and our no be no? As nice as it may sound and as comfortable as it may feel, there is no middle ground with the times in which we live. We are either on the side of good or we are on the side of evil. What will we choose? As for us here at GCA, we will continue to love and serve the Lord.
I assure you that as we continue to walk through this school year, the school board will continue to discuss and make decisions on things that will make our school safer from evil. But please remember, although we will strive to be wise, prepare, and use common sense in all these measures, God is still over all and it is Him that we will always trust.
In the midst of evil in a fallen world, we realize that ultimately none of what we see is a gun problem or an improper school security problem, it is a sin problem. This sin problem has raged since the fall in the Garden of Eden and it sets up the battle we are witnessing on full display between good and evil. Praise God that He has provided a remedy for this sin problem in the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. May we continue to proclaim this remedy of the Gospel to a fallen world that is desperate for hope and truth!
