So much unrest. Everywhere we turn today there seems to be plenty for the taking. It is hard not to be weary. In fact, the bible doesn’t promise that everything will be a paradise when we are saved, it actually says that we will have just the opposite in the world. The scriptures are always relevant and timely, and I think they are exceedingly so for the days in which we live. As through all of world history, we see our world woefully tainted with sin and it tries to wrap itself around our hearts and lives daily. So as we see, for believers, we can expect weariness in this fallen world because this is not our home. So what do we do with it?

The Bible always has the answers for what we walk through, but we need to read it, meditate on it, and apply it. God knows we will get weary and He has the answer: Come to Jesus. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Just this last week, I had too many instances to count where all I could do was go to Jesus. And while as disciples of Christ we should be about this pathway 100% of the time, we tend not to come when things are fine and tend to come when things are not fine. It is really perplexing that we do this, especially when the scriptures say that we will be filled “all the time” when we come to Him. Isaiah 40:31 says: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” We can’t help but notice the word “will” in this scripture. There are no maybe’s with the promises of God. So let’s go and be filled!! It is God’s promise that we will!! And if that is not enough for us, then God has another promise for us about our eternal hope: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). As believers, we have an eternal home that awaits us! So even if we struggle with seeing past the hardship and weariness in this life, we can confidently know that the blood of Jesus has made a way for us to heaven and eternity with the Father.

I hope this message brings confidence into your day as it does for us at GCA. Let’s stand on the promises of God in every circumstance. For even in a fallen, broken, and wearisome world, we can still Leave a Legacy of Walking with Christ.
